SEC and Ripple Reach $125 Million Settlement to End Lawsuit

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Ripple Labs, Inc., have reached a settlement agreement worth $125 million to resolve their long-standing legal dispute. This deal will conclude the lawsuit initiated in 2020. Ripple’s CEO Brad Garlinghouse and Executive Chairman Chris Larsen negotiated this compromise which includes $50 million paid to the SEC as a civil penalty and $75 million returned to Ripple.
