Tether Invests in Gold to Enhance Value of USDT Stablecoin

USDT issuer, Tether, has acquired a significant stake in Elemental Altus Royalties Corp., a Canadian company specializing in gold royalty streams. This move strengthens Tether’s commitment to diversifying its assets and bolstering the stability of its USD-pegged stablecoin, USDT. 78,421,780 shares were acquired in June, demonstrating Tether’s strategy to secure reserves and enhance the trust associated with USDT. This investment aligns with Tether’s broader plan to expand into various asset classes such as Bitcoin (BTC). Tether aims to use this gold investment to further support the value of USDT, particularly within the LATAM region. 100,000 BTC were previously acquired by the company.
