Cardano co-founder Charles Hoskinson announced that XRP support will be added to Input Output’s Lace wallet in an AMA session. Launched in April 2023, the lightweight wallet enabled users to directly stake ADA. Lace has undergone multiple updates since then, including enhanced connectivity for decentralized applications and hardware integrations. In June 2024, Lace introduced multi-wallet and multi-account support. The wallet recently expanded its capabilities to include Bitcoin support through Lace 1.22 and now supports managing Bitcoin holdings on a test network. This move paves the way for Bitcoin-based DeFi on Cardano. Additionally, Lace went live with a Firefox extension last month, providing users with support for creating wallets, staking, and dApp connectivity. The addition of XRP support marks a shift in Hoskinson’s stance after past disagreements with members of the XRP community. He has recently shown support for XRP and Ripple Labs, including praise for the Ripple USD (RLUSD) stablecoin and endorsement of the Ripple acquisition proposal.
