Taiwanese Exports Skyrocket on AI Demand, Pre-Tariff Surge Drives Record Results

Taiwan’s export performance reached a historic high in May, fueled by robust demand for artificial intelligence and pre-tariff rush orders. This surge, exceeding expectations and marking the 19th consecutive monthly increase, surpassed analysts’ forecasts of 25% growth and reached $51.74 billion. The country’s finance ministry attributed this success to strong AI demand and customer responses to potential future U.S. tariffs, which are set to take effect after a suspension period expires next month.
