Hong Kong Launches Cross-Chain CBDC Trial Project Using Chainlink’s CCIP

The Hong Kong government has initiated a pilot project using Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) to test cross-border transactions between permissioned and permissionless blockchains, as well as the use of diverse digital assets. The initiative, part of Hong Kong’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) program, aims to facilitate a hypothetical transaction involving an Australian investor purchasing a tokenized asset in Hong Kong. 1 This transaction would be routed through multiple blockchain interactions before reaching the investor’s wallet, ultimately settled using Hong Kong’s CBDC.
