Ripple Delays XRP Unlockings: New Release Schedule for Billion Tokens

Ripple, a leading blockchain technology provider, has continued to deviate from its established pattern when releasing XRP tokens. Traditionally, the company unlocks one billion XRP tokens on the first day of each month. However, since March, Ripple has shifted to a new release schedule, marking a departure from this longstanding routine. The company began unlocking tokens at later dates after introducing a novel escrow system in March 2023. This shift followed similar patterns in April and May, with XRP token unlocks delayed until later dates.

As U.Today previously reported, the latest delay occurred on June 1st when 670 million XRP were released into escrow, coinciding with the anniversary of Ripple’s XRP network. Ripple has also announced a change in its reporting practices, opting for infrequent social media updates and blog posts instead of traditional monthly reports.

In its latest financial report, Ripple revealed a significant holding: 4.5 billion XRP tokens are held in reserves, while an additional 37.1 billion XRP tokens were locked in escrow wallets as of March 31st, 2023.
