Reddit Files Lawsuit Against Anthropic Over AI Model Training Data

Reddit has taken legal action against AI firm Anthropic in San Francisco Superior Court, accusing them of unauthorized data scraping over 100,000 times since July 2022. The lawsuit alleges that Anthropic used Reddit’s content without permission for training their AI models, which violates platform rules and user data privacy agreements. Reddit’s Chief Legal Officer explained the company had previously attempted to reach a licensing agreement with Anthropic but ultimately resorted to legal action as a means of restarting negotiations.
