Hacker Arrested for Illegally Mining Cryptocurrency Using 5,000+ Hosting Accounts

A Ukrainian man has been arrested for allegedly using stolen access to mine cryptocurrency illegally. The suspect exploited over 5,000 hosting accounts belonging to a major international provider, rerouting computing power for illicit gains, resulting in damages estimated at $4.4 million USD. Authorities estimate the total loss suffered by the hosting company to be over 185 million Ukrainian hryvnias (approx. $4.4 million USD). The suspect’s actions, known as cryptojacking, involve stealing resources without paying for them.
