New Bitcoin Whales Accumulate $63 Billion: Potential Supply Squeeze Ahead?

A new cohort of Bitcoin whales has emerged, accumulating over $63 billion worth of the cryptocurrency in a short timeframe. These wallets, holding at least 1,000 BTC each and with coins dating back less than six months, suggest recent investment rather than longstanding holdings. This group’s holdings have doubled from around 500,000 BTC to 1.1 million BTC between March 1st and June 4th, 2025, according to CryptoQuant’s “Supply Held by New Whales” indicator. This represents a 3.1 percentage point increase in the Bitcoin supply held by this newly active group, roughly equivalent to nearly ten months’ worth of mining output absorbed in a short period.
