Netflix Raises Subscription Prices in Nigeria and South Africa, Fueling Financial Pressures

Popular video streaming platform Netflix has implemented price hikes for its subscription plans in both Nigeria and South Africa, sparking concerns about the financial strain on consumers. Effective July 4th, 2025, the premium plan increased to N8,500, a 21.4% jump from N7,000. The Standard plan saw an increase of 18.18%, going from N5,500 to N6,500. Meanwhile, the Basic plan’s price now stands at N4,000 – an 14.29% rise from the previous N3,500. The price adjustments are part of a broader strategy to adjust subscription fees in various regions and accelerate revenue growth.
