Meta Secures Nuclear Power for AI Infrastructure, Boosts Jobs in Illinois

Tech giant Meta has signed a long-term agreement with Constellation to acquire 1.1 gigawatts of energy from the Clinton Clean Energy Center in Illinois. This deal begins in 2027 and is expected to fuel Meta’s rapidly expanding artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and data centers, amidst growing energy demands within the tech industry. 2027 will mark the start date for the agreement. The facility was initially slated to close due to financial challenges in 2017, but this new partnership ensures its continued operation and contribution to the region.
