IMF Requests Clarification on Pakistan’s Bitcoin Power Plan

Pakistan’s plan to allocate 2,000 megawatts of energy for Bitcoin mining and AI centers has drawn significant attention from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The IMF is seeking clarification regarding this initiative, which involves repurposing underutilized coal plants to support digital asset mining. This move comes amidst ongoing talks with the IMF for a $2.4 billion loan. The Pakistan Finance Ministry, independently announcing the plan, has been met with scrutiny over its decision to bypass IMF recommendations.
