A significant security breach has been reported at the Nervos Force Bridge, resulting in a theft of approximately $3 million worth of cryptocurrency. The attack reportedly involved hackers leveraging the bridge’s cross-chain functionality to siphon off various cryptocurrencies like USDT, ETH, USDC, DAI and WBTC before transferring them to Tornado Cash for obfuscation. 257,800 USDT, 539 ETH, 898,300 USDC, 60,400 DAI, and 0.79 WBTC were among the tokens stolen in this attack. Following this theft, experts are raising concerns about the vulnerability of cross-chain bridges within the DeFi ecosystem. Notably, the use of Tornado Cash for illicit transactions complicates efforts to recover these funds and has highlighted a need for enhanced monitoring tools and regulations to address these security threats. This incident comes as a sobering reminder that the security challenges of blockchain interoperability remain a significant concern within the crypto space.
