Federal Reserve: Stablecoins Lead Payment Innovation, CBDCs Remain Unlikely

In a recent statement, Federal Reserve board member Christopher J. Waller emphasized that stablecoins are currently more suitable for payment transactions than central bank digital currencies (CBDCs). This reinforces the Fed’s continued focus on promoting private sector innovation in payments rather than pushing for governmental-backed digital currencies.
