Reports suggest Taiwan-based cryptocurrency exchange BitoPro may have been victim to a substantial security breach, with over $11.5 million in digital assets stolen from its hot wallets on May 8th, according to blockchain investigator ZachXBT. The illicit withdrawals affected multiple blockchains including Ethereum, Tron, Solana, and Polygon. BitoPro has yet to publicly acknowledge the incident despite weeks passing since the event was reported. The stolen funds were later moved through decentralized exchanges (DEXs), cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash, and even bridged to Bitcoin via THORChain, a technique commonly employed by hackers to obscure the source of funds.
