Crypto Scams Plummet 40% in May, Following Major Cetus Heist

Despite a significant theft from the Cetus DEX platform during May 2025, cryptocurrency scam losses dropped by 40%. A blockchain security firm, PeckShield, revealed that total losses for May were $244.1 million, marking a substantial decrease from April’s figures. This decline is attributed to improved security protocols and increased industry awareness. While the Cetus hack stole nearly $223 million, efforts by the Sui Network and Cetus have ensured a significant portion of the stolen funds has been frozen.
