Government Urges Supreme Court to Dismiss Coinbase User’s Privacy Lawsuit

The US Department of Justice is urging the Supreme Court to dismiss a lawsuit brought by James Harper, a Coinbase user challenging the IRS’s demand for his cryptocurrency transaction records. The government argues that Mr. Harper voluntarily shared his data with Coinbase, thus forfeiting his Fourth Amendment right to privacy protection.
