Kazakhstan Unveils ‘CryptoCity’ Pilot Project for Cryptocurrency Payments

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev launched a pilot project called ‘CryptoCity’ at the 2025 Astana International Forum, signaling a push towards integrating cryptocurrencies into everyday transactions. This initiative will allow for payments using digital assets within a specific designated area in Kazakhstan. The ‘CryptoCity’ program aims to develop a secure regulatory sandbox environment that fosters real-world applications of cryptocurrencies. It is expected to be situated near the southeastern border of Kazakhstan, specifically in Alatau settlement.
