Sacks Suggests US Could Acquire More Bitcoin

David Sacks, the White House’s advisor on AI and crypto, suggests that the US government could purchase more Bitcoin if it can fund such an acquisition in a budget-neutral manner without creating new taxes or increasing existing debt. During a recent Bitcoin 2025 conference fireside chat, Sacks indicated that while he cannot guarantee any specific actions, there is a pathway for government action regarding buying more Bitcoin (BTC). However, this would require convincing the Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, or the Treasury Secretary, Scott Besson, to approve the purchase and fund it without adding to the national debt. To facilitate such an action, Sacks proposes exploring options from existing programs to find funding sources for Bitcoin acquisition.
