Pakistan Appoints Special Assistant for Blockchain and Cryptocurrency in PM’s Cabinet

Pakistan has appointed a special assistant to the prime minister, Bilal Bin Saqib, dedicated to advancing blockchain technology and cryptocurrency initiatives within the country. This move comes amidst growing interest in cryptocurrencies within Pakistan’s digital space. Saqib will play a key role in developing regulatory frameworks for cryptocurrencies aligned with international standards (FATF), promoting government-supported bitcoin mining operations, and integrating blockchain technology into areas such as land record management and financial services. He has been given the rank of minister of state but will not receive a salary or other benefits.
