New Phishing Attack Emerges with Ethereum Upgrade, Causing $150,000 Loss

A new phishing attack targeting the Ethereum network has emerged, exploiting a feature within the recent Pectra upgrade. The attack, dubbed Inferno Drainer by security researchers, uses a newly discovered tactic to siphon funds from unsuspecting users. It leverages the authorization mechanism of EIP-7702, allowing for temporary delegation of accounts to perform transactions, and exploits this vulnerability to execute unauthorized bulk token transfers.
