The bill, officially designated SB 21, passed through the Texas House of Representatives on May 21st and is currently pending the governor’s signature. Governor Abbott actively championed cryptocurrency legislation since 2021, aiming to transform Texas into a prominent hub for digital currency in 2024. Following these elections, Texas joins a growing list of state governments exploring the implementation of crypto reserves. Previously, New Hampshire Governor Kelly Ayotte signed a similar bill on May 6th, while Arizona has taken steps to regulate unclaimed cryptocurrency assets.
