Polygon Co-Founder Mihailo Bjelic Steps Down from Layer 2 Network

Polygon co-founder Mihailo Bjelic has stepped down from his roles at the company, leaving Sandeep Nailwal as the sole remaining original founder actively involved in the project. Bjelic’s departure marks a significant shift in leadership for Polygon, after he reduced his involvement with both the Polygon Foundation board and daily operations at Polygon Labs. He officially left the board and significantly scaled back his engagement with the network. Despite this change, Polygon continues its development and governance efforts. Nailwal acknowledged Bjelic’s contributions to Polygon, while also expressing well wishes for his future endeavors. Bjelic’s departure reduces the original founding team’s presence within the project’s governance and development. The Polygon Foundation, responsible for aspects related to network development, ecosystem growth, and community support, now operates with only one of its founders actively involved. Although Bjelic steps away from daily activities, the network continues under Nailwal’s leadership and focuses on future development. The change signifies a shift in leadership but doesn’t indicate immediate changes to the technical roadmap or community initiatives. Polygon’s history dates back to 2016 when it started as Matic Network, focused on solving Ethereum scaling problems through its Layer-2 solutions. The technology and community of Polygon were largely built by the four founders who helped shape the project.
