Nvidia Unveils Lower-Cost Blackwell AI Chip for China Amid US Export Restrictions

In a move aimed at accessing the Chinese market despite US export restrictions, Nvidia is preparing to launch a more affordable version of its AI chip called ‘Blackwell’. Sources close to the development reveal that Nvidia plans to begin mass production in June, with pricing significantly lower than the restricted H20 model. This reflects the new chip’s reduced specifications and simplified manufacturing process. While the price range for the new chip is expected to be between $6,500 and $8,000, it will use conventional GDR7 memory instead of the more advanced high bandwidth memory found in the H20.
