More than 6.5 Million Australians Invest in Crypto, Baby Boomers Leading the Charge

A recent survey by Independent Reserve reveals that over 6.5 million Australians are invested in digital assets like cryptocurrency. Notably, baby boomers have seen a significant increase in crypto ownership, with their involvement quadrupling in the past six years. This trend is evidenced by the growing number of Australians aged 65 and above who own crypto, now exceeding 8.2%. Independent Reserve also found that self-managed super fund investors interested in Bitcoin doubled over the same period. This surge coincides with the increasing popularity of digital assets among baby boomers like Terry and Justine Sanders, a couple from Sandgate who invested $48,000 in crypto in 2019 and later profited by selling their Bitcoin for half a million dollars. They believe this investment transformed their lives.
