Coinbase Hacker Dumps $68 Million Worth of Ethereum, Mocking Investigator

A hacker linked to the recent Coinbase data breach has dumped a staggering $68 million in Ethereum, mocking investigators and triggering security overhauls across major crypto platforms. The attacker used multiple wallets and the THORChain network to obfuscate their actions, selling around 26,554 ETH in just 48 hours before repurchase, likely to avoid detection. This follows a similar move where 8,776 ETH were sold for $23.24 million, with an average price of $2,648, and another 17,778 ETH for $45.48 million using three wallets. The hacker’s actions have prompted Coinbase to tighten security measures, with the DOJ launching a probe. Cetus, another decentralized exchange that suffered a separate exploit, offered a bounty for information leading to an arrest of the individual behind this theft.
