Ethereum developer Vitalik Buterin has proposed adjustments to the blockchain’s scaling roadmap to mitigate the impact of increasing the gas limit on full node operators. In a recent research post, he highlighted the significance of personal nodes for verifying transactions and maintaining privacy, emphasizing their importance for both on-chain verification and local RPC data security.
Buterin’s recommendations include accelerating the implementation of EIP-4444, developing decentralized historical data storage solutions, and optimizing gas mechanisms to increase the cost associated with new state storage.
He also proposed a novel ‘partial stateless node’ model, allowing users to selectively store critical states. This approach aims to balance storage efficiency while maintaining local privacy levels.
