JAMB Fraud Detection System Under Fire as CEO Calls for Vendor Sanction

Following a wave of complaints and controversies surrounding the 2025 UTME results, Alex Onyia, CEO of EduCare, has accused JAMB’s fraud detection system of being flawed. In a move prompted by discrepancies in scoring and withheld exam results, Mr. Onyia requested access to JAMB’s systems through a Freedom of Information Act (FOI) petition. His review revealed more than 300,000 candidates across two JAMB regions were wrongly scored, leading to the rescheduling of exams in those areas. Mr. Onyia further discovered the system’s algorithm for detecting fraudulent activity is faulty and has unjustly penalized countless students.
