Global Cryptocurrency Fraud Investigation Leads to Arrest of New Zealand Man

A New Zealand man has been apprehended in connection with a major international cryptocurrency fraud operation led by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The alleged scheme, targeting seven victims, resulted in the theft of an estimated $265 million worth of cryptocurrency between March and August 2024. New Zealand police coordinated with authorities in the US, executing search warrants across three locations – Auckland, Wellington, and California. The operation has led to several arrests, including a New Zealand resident who faces charges under U.S. federal law for racketeering, wire fraud, and money laundering.
