Technical Error Behind JAMB 2025 UTME Results Crisis

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), but these were marred by a significant technical error. Over 1.5 million candidates scored below 200 out of 400, sparking widespread outrage and prompting Alex Onyia of Educare to investigate. On May 14th, Onyia tweeted a detailed technical report revealing the cause: nearly 388,000 candidate results were affected due to human error during the exam’s computer-based test (CBT). JAMB responded swiftly with an urgent review session and subsequent remedial action.
