A hacker named Eric Council Jr., implicated in a SIM swap attack that compromised the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) online platform last year, faces a potential prison sentence of up to two years. The hack led to the dissemination of false information regarding an approved spot Bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF), causing market turmoil.
