Coinbase Joins S&P 500, Shares Surge Over 8%

Coinbase will officially join the prestigious S&P 500 index on May 19th, becoming the first cryptocurrency-focused company to achieve this milestone. The news, announced by S&P Global on May 12, sees Coinbase replace Discover Financial Services, which Capital One is acquiring. Following the announcement, Coinbase shares saw a significant surge of 8.8% in after-hours trading.
