Ripple Reaches $50 Million Settlement with SEC, CME Schedules XRP Futures

Following a lengthy legal battle, Ripple and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have reached a settlement agreement worth $50 million. This marks the final chapter in the case concerning Ripple’s XRP sales and their classification as securities. As part of the deal, Ripple will receive back access to $125 million previously held in escrow, while paying $50 million to the SEC for settling the case. 6 4th May 2025, the CME Group has scheduled the launch of XRP futures contracts on May 19th, with micro and standard contract sizes available. The move brings XRP closer to mainstream adoption as Ripple’s legal hurdle clears.
