The first day of talks aimed at ending the trade war between the US and China concluded in Geneva after an eight-hour marathon session. While no agreement was reached by the end of Saturday’s negotiations, both sides continued discussions on Sunday, seeking to bridge the gap between their positions. The meeting took place at the residence of the Swiss ambassador to the UN, with heavy security measures in place for the delegations. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer led the US delegation, while Chinese officials including He Lifeng, China’s economic chief, and Wang Xiaohong, the public security minister, attended the talks. Despite the absence of an immediate agreement, both sides have shown commitment to further discussions and a shared desire to reach a resolution.
