Germany Seizes $38 Million in Cryptocurrency Linked to Bybit Hack

German authorities have seized a significant sum of cryptocurrency, worth around $38 million, linked to the record-breaking hack of crypto exchange Bybit. The seizure was announced by Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and Frankfurt’s main prosecutor’s office on May 9. This action involved multiple crypto assets, including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), and Dash (DASH). It marks the third-largest cryptocurrency confiscation in BKA history. The authorities also seized eXch’s German server infrastructure, which housed a vast amount of data exceeding eight terabytes, and shut down the platform entirely.
