Virginia Resident Sentenced for Funding ISIS with Cryptocurrency

Mohammed Azharuddin Chhipa, a 35-year-old resident of Virginia, has been sentenced to 30 years and 4 months in prison for funding the terrorist organization ISIS. Evidence presented in court reveals that between October 2019 and October 2022, Chhipa raised over $185,000 through social media and traveled extensively to collect cash. He then converted this money into cryptocurrency and transferred it to Turkey, ultimately reaching ISIS members in Syria. These funds were used to support ISIS militants and to rescue detained female members.
