Linea Offers Free Layer-2 Bridging for Ethereum Users

Blockchain network Linea has introduced a new benefit for users transferring assets from Ethereum to its platform, covering the costs of layer-2 gas fees through its native bridge. This move aims to simplify the on-boarding process and reduce friction for newcomers. While free transfers are now offered, some limitations apply. The service only covers transactions between Ethereum and Linea using the network’s own bridge, while high-gas transactions exceeding 250,000 gas units won’t be covered. Additionally, USDC transfers through Circle’s CCTP remain excluded. Users will still need to cover the cost of Ethereum mainnet fees, which can range from $2 to $20 depending on network congestion. This new initiative comes as Linea continues development and optimization efforts in a bid to improve scalability and user experience.
