Ethereum Hack: Hacker Moves $182K from Voltage Finance Exploit

A hacker associated with the August 2022 hacking of the decentralized lending protocol Voltage Finance has moved a significant portion of the stolen funds, including $182,783 in ETH. Blockchain security firm CertiK revealed on May 6th that the hacker transferred this amount through Tornado Cash. This action follows months of inactivity for the hacker’s previous account. CertiK’s investigation uncovered that the hacker had used the platform’s smart contracts and reentrancy attacks to steal $4.67 million in digital tokens. The funds were then laundered using Tornado Cash, a service previously sanctioned by the US Treasury for money laundering purposes, and are now moving through different wallets and transactions. The incident highlights the vulnerability of decentralized finance platforms to sophisticated hacking techniques.
