CFTC Withdraws Appeal Against Kalshi, Election Contracts Persist

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has officially withdrawn its appeal against crypto prediction platform Kalshi. Last year, the CFTC sought to halt Kalshi’s ability to operate prediction markets related to the November elections. However, a federal judge previously ruled that the CFTC overstepped its authority by attempting to block Kalshi from offering these contracts to users. In February of this year, CFTC Commissioner Summer K. Mersinger confirmed that election-based contracts will remain active. Kalshi has also stated their commitment to continue providing this market to users.
