An Israeli man, Alexander Gurevich, accused of playing a key role in the $190 million Nomad bridge hack has been apprehended and is facing extradition to the United States. Following his arrest at Israel’s Ben-Gurion Airport on May 1st while attempting to board a flight to Russia, Gurevich was summoned for an extradition hearing at the Jerusalem District Court. U.S. prosecutors have accused him of exploiting a vulnerability in the Nomad bridge – a cross-chain token transfer system – and stealing approximately $2.89 million in crypto assets. 2022’s Nomad Bridge hack remains one of the largest cryptocurrency thefts to date, with authorities suggesting Gurevich may have been in Israel during the initial attack and is now facing charges for his alleged actions.
