The Cyberabad Cybercrime Police in India successfully helped a victim retrieve the $3,074.14 lost to online cryptocurrency fraud. Authorities worked through a series of investigative steps, ultimately securing the funds’ return. The case involved an investor targeted by scammers posing as traders with an exponential profit scheme. He fell prey to the fraudulent scheme and had his funds transferred under false pretenses. However, upon filing a complaint, the police investigated digital wallets related to the fraud. Their investigation led them to find $3,901.79 in the suspect’s international cryptocurrency exchange account located in Seychelles. Subsequently, the police secured a court order for freezing assets and received confirmation from the exchange about the funds remaining. The exchange then transferred the recovered amount back to the victim’s wallet. This successful resolution exemplifies how authorities are tackling online investment scams.
