Buffett Cautions on AI Investments: Focus Remains on Reinsurance

Warren Buffett, CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, expressed cautious optimism regarding artificial intelligence (AI) investments during his recent shareholder meeting. He emphasized a preference for investing in the reinsurance sector instead of solely focusing on AI technologies. According to Ajit Jain, head of Berkshire’s insurance business, Warren Buffett has delegated decision-making regarding specific AI products to him. Jain noted that AI will significantly disrupt the insurance industry, particularly concerning risk pricing. However, Berkshire Hathaway is opting for a ‘wait-and-see’ approach before committing significant resources to AI within the insurance field. Instead of chasing after new trends, Berkshire emphasizes strategic investment based on proven strategies and expertise.
