Merchants in Cannes, France, known for hosting the international film festival, are poised to accept cryptocurrency payments as early as summer 2025. This initiative aims to attract affluent customers and modernize the city’s payment system. Lunu Pay founder and head of strategy, Artem Shaginyan, suggests that reaching a 90% adoption rate among local businesses is a key goal for this move. The project highlights the growing integration of cryptocurrency into everyday commerce rather than just online transactions. The Cannes municipal government aims to demonstrate the practicality of crypto in daily life through this initiative. Mayor David Lisnard has also organized training sessions for merchants and professionals to familiarize them with crypto payment acceptance, highlighting the significance of these efforts.
