Nigeria Legitimizes Bitcoin: New Law Recognizes Digital Assets as Securities

Nigerian President Tinubu has signed the 2025 Investment and Securities Act, officially classifying Bitcoin and other digital assets as securities. This new legislation replaces the 2007 Investment and Securities Act and seeks to modernize Nigeria’s capital market regulations in response to current economic conditions and long-term challenges.
