Blockchain forensics company Crystal Intelligence has agreed to acquire Scam Alerts, the Web3 scam notification platform operated by Whale Alert. The acquisition, expected to close in May, will see Scam Alerts operate as an independent entity under Crystal Intelligence’s umbrella. Whale Alert, however, will continue as a collaborator and advisor in the post-acquisition model. Crystal Intelligence aims to bolster its scam reporting capabilities and victim support services through language improvements and enhanced cooperation with law enforcement agencies on both domestic and international levels. The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation highlights a surge in cryptocurrency-related financial crimes in 2024, with complaints resulting in losses exceeding $9.3 billion – a significant increase from 2023’s figure of $5.6 billion.
