Roswell Receives First Bitcoin Donation for Strategic Reserve

The city of Roswell, New Mexico, has received its first bitcoin donation, amounting to 3,050,323 satoshis (approximately $2,906 USD) at the time of receipt. This contribution will fund the establishment of the ‘Roswell Strategic (Bitcoin) Reserve,’ managed by city officials. The funds will be held for a minimum of ten years to accumulate further bitcoin donations and sponsorships. Once the reserve reaches one million dollars, it can be utilized as a ‘Bitcoin Emergency Fund.’ A fixed 21% allocation will be accessible every five years with the approval of the city council. The primary use of this fund is to subsidize local senior residents’ water bills and support emergency disaster response efforts. The donation was officially received on April 29th, confirmed by Roswell’s Acting Mayor Juliana Halvorson and cryptocurrency expert Guy Malone. The bitcoin address used in the transaction has been made public.
