Federal Judge Blocks Treasury’s Re-Sanctions on Tornado Cash

A federal judge in Texas has ruled that the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) is barred from reinstating sanctions on crypto mixer Tornado Cash, effectively ending the agency’s 2022 effort to restrict the platform. Judge Robert Pitman’s April 28th decision declared the initial sanctions unlawful and permanently blocked their enforcement.
