BlackRock Launches Blockchain-Based Money Market Funds

Asset management giant BlackRock is taking a significant step towards blockchain-powered finance by filing to launch digital ledger technology (DLT) shares for one of its money market funds. The initiative, detailed in an April 29 SEC filing, aims to modernize record-keeping without tokenizing the product itself. DLT shares for BlackRock’s BLF Treasury Trust Fund (TTTXX) will be used to mirror share ownership records on a blockchain, enhancing transparency while maintaining traditional book-entry systems for official ownership records.
