A dispute surrounding the Ethereum Foundation’s new strategic goals has emerged, sparking debate within the industry about their impact on ETH’s market value. Industry expert Pierre Rochard, Vice President of Research at Riot Platforms, sharply criticized these objectives, arguing that they offer limited practical impact on the cryptocurrency’s price, suggesting a more aggressive financial approach is needed. Rochard suggested exploring an IPO and utilizing convertible bonds to enhance ETH’s growth potential. Meanwhile, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin reaffirmed the Foundation’s focus on increasing platform usage and decentralization, highlighting these aims as consistent with Ethereum’s mission. Rochard counters that while such practices align with Ethereum’s core objectives, they are insufficient to guarantee market value enhancement. Notably, he points out the growing influence of alternative tokens within the ecosystem like wBTC and USDT, suggesting their impact on ETH’s direct value.
