Ethereum Scalability: Researcher Proposes 100x Gas Limit Hike by 2029

A new Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP-9698) has proposed a significant increase in the gas limit, aiming for a hundredfold jump by 2029. This proposal, put forth by researcher Feist, envisions an exponential voting schedule to gradually raise the gas limit. Starting June 2025, it would see tenfold increments every two years, reaching a remarkable 3.6 billion in 2029 from the current 36 million. This move aims for a more predictable and sustainable growth path in Ethereum’s transaction processing capacity.
